Four ways to support our community during these times of unrest.
All we know to do right now is to grieve with those who grieve as well as support people and organizations working to change the system. Our hearts are hurt for the families of George Floyd and James Scurlock. Murderers need to be held accountable and until they are here a just a few ways we can work to bring change to a broken system.
VOTE
This may be one of the most important things we can do as a community both at a local and national level. Our vote matters and we have a very real opportunity to make an impact at the polls this year.
The Union for Contemporary Art partnered with Rabble Mill to put together a voter guide to better equip us all when we go to the polls. We’ll share more when it’s live.
DONATE
Many organizations are doing work every day to educate, support, and protect communities and they need financial support to keep progressing on issues o f racial injustice. Here are just a few that are doing this work daily to serve underrepresented and oppressed communities in Omaha.

VOLUNTEER
This one is a little harder during a pandemic but keep these groups in mind if you’re looking for places to volunteer. Many are offering opportunities online to to serve and support their mission.

LEARN
Another thing we can do is consume challenging content together, as a community. Stories matter and our history paints a clear picture of what we need to change about our current system. Add these to your list and if we need to start a book club we will.
